In this note we will analyze the conceptual category of an event.
An event is the realization (materialization) of a possibility or a potential state within a specific coordinate of time and space.
An event is the realization (materialization) of some potential - to hecho.
It is the coming-into-being of the potential into the real at a minimal level of aggregation.
An event is an instance of an event type or class - that is converted from potential state - to an actual state.
Note: Upon deeper reflection, events should be understood primarily as a fundamental and relevant epistemic tool; we should refrain from ontologizing them.
Note state: Let’s leave this note aside for a time, set it aside, and return to the idea of an event in order to advance toward a minimal and perspectival understanding of it.
Guiding Questions
- (Formulation)
- What does the term event denote?
- What kinds of entities or phenomena are typically classified as events?
- Does the term refer to occurrences, changes, interactions, or state transitions?
- What is an occurrence?
- How to characterize an events?
- Change
- Causality
- Identity
- Temporality
- Granularity
- (Ontological Primitive)
- Is an event a fundamental ontological category? How does it relate to a process?
- Are events ontic (i.e., constituents of reality), or are they better understood as an epistemic construct used to parse and structure experience?
- Does the concept of an event function as a foundational primitive in certain ontological paradigms?
- What are the minimal components of an event?
- How can causality be defined within an ontology grounded in events?
- Which ontological frameworks use events as primary building blocks?
- (Meta)
- Is the concept of an event necessary for representing change?
- Can an ontological framework be constructed without the notion of events?
- What is the intent and usefulness of adopting the concept of an event as a guiding category in an ontological framework?
- How the idea of events is used in the ars?
- Which are the others ideas that are related to events?

Evaluation Framework.
The understanding of a concept is proportional to the time invested in deep reflection, deliberate practice, and repeated engagement with its nuances. If a Concept has been learned soft of by osmosis - then is not well understood.
